EqualLogic Plans to Deliver Automated Disaster Recovery Capabilities for VMware Environments

Collaboration with VMware to Provide Seamless Use of PS Series Auto-Replication with VMware Site Recovery Manager to Simplify Implementing, Testing and Executing Disaster Recovery Plans

Nashua, N.H.—September 10, 2007- EqualLogic®, a leading provider of high-performance iSCSI storage area network (SAN) solutions, today announced its collaboration with VMware to deliver end-to-end disaster recovery automation and management through VMware Site Recovery Manager and EqualLogic PS Series SANs. This combination is expected to provide a disaster recovery solution that can be verified and automated to help enterprises maximize the availability of critical services in the event of a data center failure.

Currently, data centers using VMware Infrastructure and EqualLogic’s virtualized SAN solution benefit from consolidation, flexibility and simplicity that provide advantages for disaster recovery operations. Now, EqualLogic is working with VMware to enable VMware Site Recovery Manager to support and seamlessly leverage PS Series Auto-Replication. As a result of this effort, joint customers are expected to be able to automate critical recovery processes and test full recovery of VMware Infrastructure environments that have been replicated between two EqualLogic SANs with minimal impact on production services.

EqualLogic’s Auto-Replication capability is a standard feature in PS Series storage arrays, eliminating the typical cost of storage replication software license fees. Auto-Replication is designed to be easy to set up and manage and interoperate between all of EqualLogic’s products. In virtualized server environments based on IP/Ethernet networks, EqualLogic’s IP storage systems simplify IT operations by reducing networking complexity and eliminating the need for expensive training and consulting typically associated with managing Fibre Channel networks.
